Payment Plan

The payment plan for self-paced online courses allows students to pay course tuition in three equal installments, over a two-month period. The first installment is due at the time of registration, and the second and third installments are due at 30-day intervals. To make a down payment of 33.3% and secure your class, just select the payment plan link in the payment portal at the time you register. Two additional installments of the remaining balance will be due on each of the installment due dates, which will occur monthly from the date of the initial down payment. A $65 late payment fee will be charged for any balance due not paid by the due date. No interest will be charged for enrolling into the payment plan.

Missed or Incomplete Tuition Payments

If you miss a payment or do not pay your total course tuition by the date due, the following will apply:

  • you will be in default with Texas State University;
  • a hold will be applied to your TXST account until you pay the balance due;
  • you will lose access to your course in Canvas until you pay the balance due;
  • you will be charged a $65 late fee with the next payment; and
  • you will not be granted an extension beyond your original course expiration date for the days you lost access to the course.

Early Course Completion

Although the following is unlikely because of the course pacing and completion restrictions, if you complete your course before the final payment is due, the final payment is still due 60 days after your registration date, and TXST will not release your transcript or final course grade until the final payment is received. In this case, you may pay before the 60-day payment deadline to have your course grade and transcript released earlier.

Dropping the Course

If you are on a payment plan and drop your course within 30 days of registration, the university will withhold 15% of the total course tuition. If you are on a payment plan and drop your course more than 30 days after registration, no refund will be issued. This policy remains the same, regardless of whether you choose to participate in the payment plan or not.
