In addition to 96 hours in the classroom and homework study time, our students are eligible to complete an 80-clock-hour externship experience. The externship serves as a working experience, as well as a reference for future employment. Students are also eligible to take exams to become certified as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) and EKG Technician (CET) after the course is complete.

Externship

An externship opportunity is part of the CCMA program. Students are encouraged to complete 80 hours in a local doctor's office or hospital to gain hands-on experience before sitting for the NHA certification exam. Once the student completes the class and the externship, a certificate of completion will be issued from Texas State University, Continuing Education.
