Description

Dr. Jim Fink’s International Aerosol Medicine Training Program developed by Dr. Arzu Ari is a comprehensive initiative aimed at advancing global expertise in the science and application of aerosol therapies. This program brings together healthcare professionals, researchers, and industry leaders to explore the latest innovations in aerosol delivery systems, inhalation therapies, and respiratory care.

Meet Your Instructor

Dr. Arzu Ari

Dr. Arzu Ari is a Regents' Professor and Associate Dean for Research at Texas State University (TXST). She holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration and brings a diverse academic background with undergraduate degrees in Physical Therapy and Respiratory Care and master’s degrees in Public Health and Allied Health. Her scholarly achievements earned her tenure at both Georgia State University and TXST. She also directs the International Education Recognition System.
 
Since beginning her academic career in 2001, Dr. Ari has received more than 40 national and international awards. She has been recognized as a University Distinguished Professor and received the prestigious Regents’ Professor Award from the Texas State University System. She is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP) and the American Association for Respiratory Care (FAARC), honoring her contributions to pulmonary medicine and respiratory care.
 
Dr. Ari has held influential leadership roles in major professional organizations, including the American College of Chest Physicians, American Respiratory Care Foundation, International Society for Aerosols in Medicine, American Association for Respiratory Care, International Council for Respiratory Care, COPD Foundation, and Turkish Respiratory Society. Through these roles, she has led multidisciplinary teams worldwide to advance research, develop training programs, and strengthen international collaboration.
 
Her primary research focus is aerosol medicine. Over 25 years of basic, translational, and clinical research, she has advanced global understanding and practice of aerosol drug delivery by improving clinicians’ knowledge, identifying best practices in both spontaneous breathing and critical care settings, evaluating device performance, and developing new methods that enhance aerosol delivery for adults, children, infants, and newborns.
 
Dr. Ari’s research has been continuously funded by federal agencies, foundations, and industry partners. She has authored more than 200 publications and delivered over 350 presentations at 145 conferences worldwide. She is the lead author of A Guide to Aerosol Delivery Devices for Respiratory Therapists, 2nd Edition, downloaded more than 3 million times and translated into six languages. Her scholarly impact includes an H‑index of 32 with more than 3,700 citations. Her work published in leading journals such as The Lancet, Expert Opinion on Drug Delivery, and Pharmaceutics.
 
Dr. Ari also serves as Associate Editor for the Canadian Journal of Respiratory Therapy, and is a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Aerosol Medicine and Pulmonary Drug Delivery.
