What is Texas State Continuing Education?
Texas State Continuing Education, or TXST CE, offers non-academic, not-for-credit certificate and micro-credential courses that connect learners to industry leaders and top faculty in order to promote professional development, growth and success.

What courses are offered by TXST CE?
TXST CE offers non-academic, not-for-credit courses that are primarily offered as self-paced and 100% online. The department also offers some hybrid and/or in-person courses which will be identified as such.

What do I earn when I complete the course?
Certificates or Micro-Credentials are earned after the completion of each course. Which version is earned will be determined by the individual course and will be stated on the webpage for the course.

What are certificates and what can I do with them?
Once you complete your course, you will receive a digital certificate. The digital certificate will contain information about the completed course such as course title, your name, the hours earned, and will have the TXST CE logo on it. This digital certificate can be used on resumes, online profiles, and to show competency to employers.

Am I considered a TXST Student if I enroll in a TXST CE Online course?
No.
TXST CE learners are not considered academic students of the university, and do not have access to university ID's, email addresses, or buildings, such as libraries or labs.

Can I earn academic credit towards a degree with TXST CE courses?
No.
At this time, all online courses for credit should be taken from Extended Learning or TXST Online. Please contact those departments for degree seeking online courses.

What are the requirements to register for TXST CE courses?
TXST CE online courses are primarily online and open enrollment, which means you can enroll at any time. Those few courses who have cohorts, or specific enrollment dates, will be noted on their individual webpages.
To enroll for most online courses just follow the links on the webpage for the course you're interested in and register.

How much time do I have to complete the TXST CE course(s)?
Most online courses let you work at your own pace and give you 6 to 12 months to finish. In other words, a learner is given 6 months to take a course, but could complete it in a matter of days or weeks. Please take note of the course length and schedule on the course webpage.

What funding options can I use for TXST CE courses?
While TXST CE utilizes many pay options such as credit/debit payment, Affirm, Sallie Mae and third party funding from Texas Workforce Commission or employer-pay, there are several types of funding we DO NOT take:
- GI Bill
- VA
- Hazelwood Act
- FAFSA
- DFPS
