Students Requiring Accommodations

Services and Support

Office of Disability Services

The Office of Disability Services (ODS) strives to ensure that students with disabilities have equal access to all university programs and activities. ODS provides students the opportunity to reach their full potential by coordinating academic accommodations and support services, promoting independence and self-advocacy, and providing information and referral to appropriate resources. Students with disabilities who require special accommodations (e.g., testing accommodations, information in alternative format) need to provide verification of their disability to the Office of Disability Services, Suite 5-5.1 LBJ Student Center, at 512.245.3451 (voice/TTY). View Eligibility Requirements to register with ODS.

Students with documented disabilities who are registered with the Office of Disability Services (ODS) and have signed up in person at the ODS or in the One Stop Center at the Round Rock Campus within the first six days of the semester for advance registration are entitled to use the Special Group Registration period to obtain optimum class locations and schedules.

Student Concerns and Grievance Procedures

Students may complete the Student Concern Form to file a concern. This form is to be used to file a concern a student may have with a faculty and/or staff member. A student will have the option to raise the concern to a grievance if the student feels it is appropriate. However, an ODS staff member may also raise a student's concern into a grievance if deemed appropriate.

Currently enrolled students who have a grievance related to accommodations associated to/with a disability should follow the procedures outlined in the university policy UPPS 04.04.46 Prohibition of Illegal Discrimination or Harassment Based on Race, Color, National Origin, Age, Sex, Religion, Disability or Sexual Orientation. A copy is available from the Texas State Library, ODS, and most other university offices. Students who have concerns or complaints should contact Clint-Michael Reneau, Director of ODS, at 512.245.3451 (voice/TTY) or Dr. Sherri Benn, ADA Coordinator, at 512.245.2278.

Disabled Student Parking

Only vehicles displaying a valid state-issued Disabled Persons hang tag or plate may use the designated blue Disabled Persons parking spaces. A valid Texas State permit must be displayed along with the state-issued permit at all times.

Classroom Accessibility

Any student with a disability who has a need for accommodations or concerns about testing or classroom accessibility at Texas State University should identify him/herself to the instructor of the course or ODS as soon as possible. Students enrolled in classes at the Round Rock Campus should contact the Texas State Service Specialist in the One Stop Center (Avery Building, Suite 201).

Assistive Technology

Texas State provides a number of tools, software, and related technology to assist students in accessing course materials, completing assignments, and participating fully in the academic experience. More information about this technology is available on the ODS Assistive Technology page.
